NIRI’s US representative, Dr. Alex Koukoulas, s peaking about Circularity and the future of renewable materials at OUTLOOK in Athens. The expanded role of biorefineries and the production of bio-based plastics are major themes for producers of personal care and hygienic products. Companies will need to develop strategies for meeting the demands of consumers and government legislators. It was a pleasure to provide status and future outlook.

Dave Rousse, INDA President, presented the RISE® Innovation Award to Alexander Koukoulas, NIRI’s Director, Strategic Partnerships for their Surfaceskins product. Surfaceskins, antibacterial door push pads and pull handles, are engineered to kill deposited germs and bacteria in the vital seconds between one user and the next passing through the door, thus helping prevent the spread of some of the germs and bacteria associated with healthcare-associated infections.

It was great catching up with some of NIRI's clients last week at DSEI 2019 and there were lots of new collaboration opportunities within defence & security applications.
